A NOTE FROM CARRIE
I started The Voice Cathedral to guide singers toward the joy, the responsibility and the challenge of carrying an instrument inside your body, one that feels everything you feel and goes everywhere you go. There are many kinds of musicians in the world, but there is none like the singer.
I never had this kind of guidance while I was learning, and I had to find much of it on my own. I trained my whole life in every style, from opera to pop, musical theatre, rock and jazz. I kept what was useful, left what was not, and found a frequency that is me at my highest level: a voice I am proud of, that I can rely on, that helps me heal, and that can change the molecules in a room.
Technique is tremendously important. It comes first. But the sound you hear in me is not just technique. It is vulnerability, life lived, courage, struggle, joy and play, and an understanding of how to channel all of it while staying present with the people in the room. You can have all the technique in the world, but if you cannot channel emotion, or are too afraid to be with every part of yourself, you miss the sweetest part of carrying this gift.
You will come out of this work a better singer, and a more connected human. Creating space for more connected, more courageous humans, whether I am onstage or passing along what I know, has always been why I am here.
